Today, on International Women’s Day, we have a special reason to celebrate. We at ShedEx Fleurieu are immensely proud and thrilled to announce that our very own Julie Irwin has been honored with the 2024 Fleurieu Women’s Community Awards “Volunteer of the Year Award”.
ShedEx Fleurieu owner Michael Schubert had the privilege to nominate Julie for this award, and our team is delighted that her inspiring business acumen, untiring commitment, and invaluable service to the community have been recognised in such a grand manner.
Julie’s journey of 38 years in the Fleurieu community is an inspiring tale of resilience, perseverance, and unwavering dedication. As a strong matriarch, she has not only contributed significantly to the local community but also instilled her values of care and compassion in her daughters, Kasey and Toni.
Even in times of personal adversity, when Kasey was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, Julie and her husband Mark displayed incredible resilience. Their strength and hope during these challenging times have been a testament to their character and have served as an inspiration for many in our community.
While managing her own businesses, Hamper Warehouse and Encounter Business Management, and working part-time at ShedEx Fleurieu, Julie also served as the Business Support Executive at Business Victor Harbor. Her career has been marked by remarkable achievements, including her tenure as the State Manager with one of Australia’s top franchise organisations.
In 2017, Julie embarked on a new journey by joining the Rotary Club of Victor Harbor. Her hard work and dedication were rewarded when she was elected their President in 2020/21, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. During these challenging times, Julie stepped up and mobilized fellow Rotarians to fill gaps in services for the elderly in our community, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to those in need.
Julie’s dedication to community service extends to Café Crozier, where she serves up nourishing meals for those in need every other Sunday night. Her efforts have made a significant impact, providing support and care to those who need it most.
As the volunteer President-Elect of the Zonta Club of Fleurieu Peninsula, Julie’s passion for driving sustainable differences to benefit women and girls through service and advocacy is commendable.
Today, as we celebrate International Women’s Day, let us take a moment to appreciate and acknowledge Julie Irwin – a remarkable woman who truly embodies the spirit of this day. Her dedication, resilience, and commitment to serving her community are an inspiration to us all.
Congratulations, Julie! Your ShedEx Fleurieu family is incredibly proud of your achievements. Here’s to many more years of making a difference in the Fleurieu community!
