SHEDEX FLEURIEU

Meet the Team

When you choose ShedEx Fleurieu your project is in good hands!

Since 2005, ShedEx Fleurieu has been dedicated to delivering top-tier professionalism and expertise in every shed construction project.

Managing Director

Michael Schubert

Michael leads ShedEx Fleurieu with energy, vision, and a passion for doing things properly. With nearly three decades of experience across marketing, sales, learning & development, and over 15 years in the construction industry, he brings a unique blend of strategic thinking and hands-on know-how to the business.

After building a successful career in both Australia and the UK, Michael returned to his hometown roots on the Fleurieu Peninsula to take over the family business, originally founded in 2005 by his parents David and Sue. Since then, he’s focused on growing ShedEx Fleurieu into a trusted local name — known not just for quality sheds, but for genuinely supporting the people who live and work here.

Michael’s drive and community spirit have seen him recognised as a Fleurieu Future Leader and elected as Chairman of Business Victor Harbor, where he continues to serve on the board. He’s also an active member of Rotary Victor Harbor and a proud supporter of regional small business.

He’s a big believer in using Australian-made materials, creating positive workplaces, and building long-term relationships — with clients, staff, and the wider community.

When he’s not at the helm of ShedEx or championing local causes, you’ll find him exploring new places in the caravan (French Bulldogs in tow), spinning a vinyl record, or planning the next great adventure.

“Success is all about people. When you focus on relationships and quality, the results speak for themselves.”

General Manager

Jim Kearns

Jim is a cornerstone of ShedEx Fleurieu, having been with the business since 2007. With a background that spans sales, construction, and operations, Jim brings a wealth of experience and calm leadership to his role overseeing day-to-day production.

He started his journey at ShedEx in a sales role, but it quickly became clear he was much more than a salesperson. Over time, Jim’s position naturally evolved to meet the needs of the growing business, and today he manages everything from crew coordination and supplier relationships to ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the highest standard.

With over 15 years of experience in production management and a deep understanding of every stage of the shed-building process, Jim plays a crucial role in turning plans into reality. He works closely with both the office and construction teams to ensure seamless communication and project flow, always keeping quality and efficiency front of mind.

Jim is known for his practical approach, steady decision-making, and strong relationships with trusted suppliers. He’s selective when it comes to the materials and services ShedEx relies on, always prioritising reliability and quality over cost.

He’s also a firm believer that most of the hard work in shed building happens long before construction begins — through careful planning, coordination, and problem-solving behind the scenes.

Originally from the UK, Jim now calls Victor Harbor home and loves making the most of coastal life. Outside of work, he enjoys fishing, boating, and spending quality time with his family.

“Approvals, materials, coordination – that’s where the real groundwork happens. What the client sees is just the final chapter.”

Design Expert

Dwayne Cambridge

Dwayne joined ShedEx Fleurieu with a strong foundation in practical construction and a deep passion for design. His background spans cabinet making, veranda design, and technical work in the healthcare equipment industry — all of which shaped his hands-on, solution-focused approach. Dwayne understands the importance of designing with the build in mind, which makes him a valuable asset to both our team and our clients.

In his role as Design Expert, Dwayne works closely with customers to turn ideas into fully customised, council-ready shed designs. Whether it’s a residential garage, hobby space, or large commercial build, he brings clarity to the process, helping clients navigate options and visualise the end result. His calm and thoughtful manner helps put clients at ease from the very first conversation.

What sets Dwayne apart is his ability to see the full picture. He doesn’t just design for function or aesthetics — he designs for real-world use, with long-term durability and site conditions in mind. This attention to detail, combined with his practical knowledge, ensures each design not only looks great on paper but works perfectly on-site.

Since joining the team, Dwayne has made an immediate impact — securing projects, strengthening our client relationships, and contributing to the continued growth of ShedEx Fleurieu. He’s particularly passionate about helping clients feel confident throughout the journey and ensuring the final product reflects their vision.

Outside of work, Dwayne recharges with weekend getaways, coastal drives, live music, and the occasional metal-detecting mission. Whether he’s out exploring or at the desk designing, his curiosity and creativity shine through in everything he does.

“I’ve always believed that great design starts with listening — and ends with something you’re proud to build.”

Team Assistant

Julie Irwin

Julie is the heartbeat of ShedEx Fleurieu, keeping the wheels turning behind the scenes with her trademark mix of efficiency, warmth, and “get-it-done” attitude. With formal qualifications in Business Management and years of experience running her own business, Julie brings a wealth of knowledge — and a calm, can-do approach — to her dynamic role.

No two days are the same for Julie. She’s the go-to for just about everything, and the glue that keeps our team running smoothly.

Her ability to connect with anyone and her willingness to roll up her sleeves makes her a valued part of the ShedEx family. She doesn’t sweat the small stuff — instead, she tackles each challenge with a smile and keeps the day flowing for our staff, clients, and leadership team alike.
