Game, set, sponsor

ShedEx Fleurieu is proud to continue as a Gold Sponsor of the Victor Harbor Tennis Club.

This year we’ve gone a step further and sponsored the club’s Orange Ball crew as well. That’s meant 30 new uniform shirts carrying our logo, including the ones the Orange Ball juniors are now wearing on court (and, judging by the photos, mostly using to watch the big kids play).

It’s a small thing on paper. But walk past the courts on a Saturday morning and you’ll see why it matters.

Why we back local clubs

ShedEx Fleurieu has been building on the Fleurieu Peninsula since 2005. Our customers are our neighbours, and a lot of them spend their weekends at clubs just like this one.

Local sporting clubs run on volunteers, canteen rosters and a fair bit of goodwill. They give kids somewhere to learn, make friends and burn off energy. They give adults a reason to get out of the house and catch up.

The Victor Harbor Tennis Club knows a thing or two about sticking around. It dates back to 1912, when the club first hired the sea-front courts at Bridge Terrace (Victor Harbor Times, 1999).

Supporting that isn’t a one-off marketing stunt for us, which is why we keep coming back. It’s part of being a local business that wants to still be here in another 20 years.

Meet the Orange Ball crew

Orange Ball is a junior stage of tennis. The ball is about the same size as a regular one but softer, so it bounces lower and slower and kids can actually keep a rally going. The court is marked down to about 75% of full size, and the net is lowered too.

The Great Southern Tennis Association has been growing Orange Ball inter-club competition across the Fleurieu, and the club encourages all its younger players to get involved. Find out more about the club’s Orange Ball program.

The new shirts are bright blue with our logo up top and a very cheerful orange tennis ball underneath. Let’s be honest, the ball is going to get more attention than the logo. We’re fine with that.

Seeing a line of young players along the fence in matching shirts, racquets at their feet, is about as good as sponsorship gets. It looks like a team, and it feels like one too.

Good fundamentals win, on court and on site

There’s a reason juniors start on a smaller court. Learn the basics properly and everything that comes later is easier.

If the courts in our photos look very blue and very new, that’s because they are. The six multi-use courts were fully reconstructed and resurfaced between September 2025 and February 2026, with the tennis club helping to co-fund the work (City of Victor Harbor).

Here’s the part we like. The old surface wasn’t just patched. The works were guided by a geotechnical investigation, so the new courts are built to last. It’s the same thinking behind a good shed slab: understand the ground first, then build.

Building works the same way. One mistake we often see is people jumping straight to colours and roller doors before they’ve sorted the fundamentals: where the shed will sit, how it’ll be used in ten years, and what approvals it needs.

Get those right early and the rest of the project tends to follow. Skip them, and you can end up with a building that’s the wrong size, in the wrong spot, or stuck waiting on paperwork.

That’s what design and construct is about. We handle the design, engineering, approvals and build in one place, so you’re not juggling it all yourself.

Thinking about a shed, garage, carport or verandah? We’d be happy to talk it through. And if you see our shirts at the Victor Harbor Tennis Club, give the Orange Ball crew a wave.
